Miss Natalie

Instructor

Natalie Schmidt is the epitome of a Burlesquercise success story—what began as a beginner’s curiosity has grown into over a decade of passionate dedication, artistry, and leadership. Starting out as a student in 2010, Natalie trained through every level, genre, and prop class the program offered, learning from every instructor and developing a style uniquely her own. Ten years later, she proudly stepped into the spotlight as a professional instructor, bringing full-circle her inspiring journey from student to mentor.

Natalie’s love of performance began in early childhood. As a toddler, she lit up any room she entered, and by grade school she was already exploring movement through ballet, tap, jazz, and gymnastics.

Her talent and charisma quickly earned her a place in the company's elite performance troupe, The Fierce Five, where she graced stages and built the stage presence and confidence she’s now known for. In 2014, she further challenged herself by stepping into the world of competitive Latin dance, and by 2019, her passion for teaching led her to begin formal instructor training. In 2018 & 2019, she was also featured as a professional dancer with Calgary’s very own “Dancing With The Stars”

Known for her meticulous class preparation, infectious energy, and sharp wit, Natalie is often described as a “bubbly drill sergeant”—an instructor who pushes her students to grow while ensuring they’re laughing along the way. Her true superpower lies in her ability to break down movement so clearly and supportively that dancers of every level feel empowered to succeed.

When she’s not lighting up the dance floor, Natalie is living her best life with her husband Nick, their baby boy Everett, and her role as a proud stepmom to Chloe. She also balances it all with a full-time career as a paralegal—because, yes, she really does do it all.
